Congratulations to the team Cool Smoke on their wildly successful year in competition barbeque. This picture is my good friends Kendall, Tuffy and George accepting the Grand Champion award at Dover, Delaware this year. Cool Smoke won the Kansas City Barbeque Society Team of the Year in a commanding fashion. They were the only team with a perfect score of 75 points this year. I'm very proud of them.
Pellet Envy had a very successful year as well, finishing 13th in Chicken, 6th in Brisket, 4th in Pork, and finishing 4th overall. Oh, and we were named the Team of the Year in the Pork Ribs category. There is no statistic available for the number of unique teams that competed in KCBS sanctioned events in 2007. If I had to guess, I would say there were approximately 4,000 teams. What we do know is that there were over 9,300 teams entered in the 236 events this year and that 1,487 unique teams finished in the top five in at least one of the five categories. We didn't achieve one of our goals, but that's only going to make us work harder in 2008. So, look out Cool Smoke! Here are the 2007 TOY results:
