Huge congrats to Dennis & Vikki May of team Hardin County on their win at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo World's Championship Bar-B-Que Contest this past weekend. With 372 teams competing and well over 200,000 people in attendance, Hardin County bested this massive field, entering the rib category and winning the overall by a very impressive margin of seven points. Dennis and Vikki attended our first Old School versus High Tech competition cooking class in Lebanon, Tennessee last August. This makes the second major win from students of the class, with Chad Hayden of Moonswiners winning the 2007 Jack Daniel's World Championship Invitational Barbecue Contest. While we know these folks are excellent cooks in their own right, we'd like to think that a little something made it's way into their cooking styles. Regardless, a big congratulations goes out to both teams on their success in a field that is making it harder than ever to get to the stage last. Way to go!
