Wildcat BBQ event at Kansas State University

Fifty four teams braved the cold, wet Friday weather to compete in the third annual Wildcat BBQ contest in Manhattan, Kansas. This event is tied to the KSU spring football game on Wagner Field at Bill Snyder Family Football Stadium. Over 16,000 Wildcat fans came out to see their football team scrimmage. Despite lows in the mid 30's and strong winds on Friday night, Saturday the sun smiled on us and made it a great late spring day.
The good news, Pellet Envy won the chicken category and placed fourth in the pork category. The bad news, the judges didn't think as highly as we did of our ribs and brisket. Congrats to Albert's Ash Kickin' BBQ for their repeat win and congrats to the HoDeDoo's on their reserve. Andy cooked well and had a really strong finish in a crowd of good cooks. We finished 6th overall and felt good about the chicken win.
The K-State fans were great. We met many new people and had a great time. We're already making plans to attend this event next year.
